Validation & Proof

Don’t take our word.
Read the data.

Every claim Aether makes is backed by published ASTM testing, independent laboratory results, and field deployment evidence. Below: the standards we test against and what we found.

Lab Testing

ASTM standards. Independent labs.

ASTM G154-06
Accelerated Weathering
Pass: 0% degradation at 2,500 hr
Equivalent to ~2 years Florida sun. Test cycles UVB exposure with controlled condensation, simulating the worst-case combination of UV and moisture.
ASTM D2486
Scrub Abrasion
5,000 cycles, no degradation
Florida scrub abrasion test approximating years of mechanical cleaning. Aether-coated surfaces survive without surface marring or coating loss.
Pencil Hardness
9H Surface Hardness
Up to 9H · diamond-scale
Pencil hardness test (per ASTM) measures resistance to scratching with graded leads. 9H is the top of the scale — industrial floor finishes and automotive clearcoats territory.
ASTM B117
Salt Fog Exposure
Pass at 1,000+ hours
Continuous salt-spray for marine and aviation coatings. Aether Metal demonstrates corrosion resistance across the test window with no underfilm corrosion.
Vapor Transmission
Polarthin Breathability
Active moisture vapor transfer
Independent textile lab confirms Polarthin Ghost moves water vapor from the warm side to the cool side while remaining hydrophobic against liquid water.
Methodology
We publish the data, not the conclusions.
Aether posts raw test data, methodology references, and lab certificates so your engineers can audit and re-run if needed. Spec sheets stand on the standards they cite.

Kuwait City · June 2018

A coated panel after a sandstorm

Day 0: glass railing panels cleaned and an Aether coating applied to a single panel and the vertical windows. Day 2: overnight sandstorm. Day 3: photographed unretouched. The uncoated panels were nearly opaque. The coated panel looked freshly cleaned.

Field documentation by US Nanosolutions
Aviation MRO · Hex-chrome alternative

Aether Metal under the wing

Field qualification of Aether Metal as a hex-chrome alternative on aluminum aircraft components. Salt-fog (ASTM B117), adhesion, and impact data exceeded MRO acceptance thresholds across multiple coupons over a multi-month observation period — with a single-coat application that fits standard aviation maintenance procedures.

Diesel soot on a coated train.

A previously coated section retains its paint vivid color while the uncoated standard-finish section, even after a standard cleaning cycle, remains tarnished by diesel soot. Same self-cleaning principle as the Kuwait deployment, applied to painted surfaces.
